International MBA Curriculum Design
The NOSPA International MBA curriculum provides grounding in the following basic management topics: Financial and Cost Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Law, Operations Management, Marketing, Business Statistics, Human Resources, Business Communication, Corporate Strategy and ASEAN Economics. The first year objective is to provide a solid foundation in business education. This allows the best students to specialize in certain business fields during the second year of the program, at NOSPA or overseas.

Credit requirement

The NOSPA International MBA course requires 45 hours of classroom study to achieve the equivalent of 3 credits. The minimum requirement for the NOSPA International MBA degree is 51 semester credits. Students are required to complete at least 45 credits of the MBA regular courses and 6 credits for the MBA project.

To qualify for the degree of Master of Business and Administration, a student must:
  • Satisfactorily complete the 45 minimum credits requirement by following courses approved by the MBA 
  • Achieve a final cumulative grade point average (GPA) of not less than 2.75
  • Achieve a grade of excellent, very good, good or fair for the MBA project oral presentation

MBA Project
The MBA internship provides the students with an opportunity to learn by “doing” in a business environment; thus, consolidating the assimilation of business knowledge acquired during the program. The internship lasts at least three months and is good experience for future employment after the MBA.

The MBA project is designed for students to learn by thinking. At the end of the program the student must write a report and make an oral presentation about a business problem relevant to the Lao economy. The project will focus on problem solving in organizational contexts.

Semester and Break Periods (Tentative)

In a regular semester students will have 15 weeks of actual teaching including an examination, which is usually set upon completion of 45 hours tuition; allowing students ample preparation time for the exam. The long and short breaks are 12 and 3 weeks respectively.

  • September Semester: Starts in 1st week of September and ends in January
  • February Semester: Starts in 3rd week of February and ends in second week of June
  • Long break: Starts in the third week of June and ends in the first week of September
  • Short Break (3 weeks): 1 week in December and 2 weeks in February
